2. Functional Ear Trainer

Download the App on the Google Store by clicking this Button
“Ear training can be easy and fun! With a right approach.

Have you (or one of your friends) ever wanted to learn to transcribe or play music by ear?

It is so important for a musician to know what you are hearing. A good musical ear helps when you are composing, improvising, transcribing melodies, or playing with others.

Most likely you have already tried different programs to learn to recognize intervals or even to acquire perfect pitch. However, although such programs develop your ear, but can you actually play any melody you hear as soon as you listen to it?

Imagine you could understand music… It is like when somebody is talking to you, you not only hear pleasant sounds, but you recognize words and their meaning.

One day I came across Alain Benbassat’s program called “Functional Ear Trainer” and have been using it ever since. It is based on Alain’s ear training method to learn to recognize tones.

The main difference between the Functional Ear Trainer and other methods is that it teaches you to distinguish between tones in the context of a particular musical key. You begin to recognize the role (or function) of each tone in this key, which is incredibly similar to its role in other keys of the same scale.

And it is *guaranteed* anyone can gradually develop this skill. It does not matter:
– who you are – an absolute beginner in music or a virtuoso professional musician;
– how old you are – a 3 yo kid or a 90+ adult;
– what musical instrument you play (you don’t even have to play one).

The only requirement is to practice for 10 minutes a day.

I was so excited about this ear trainer that I have developed an Android app based on the Alain Benbassat method. I hope you will find it useful.

Download this app right now, and have fun with your ear training!”

3. Virtual Choir Creator

Download the App on the Google Store by clicking this Button
“Virtual Choir is an app to help musicians create video montages. You can record yourself, import recordings from friends and synchronize everything.

In order to use it, follow this steps:

1. Create a new Project.
2. If you have an audio or video base to sing/play with, go to Audio/Video Base page and import the file. If you don’t have a base, you can record and make that recording the base.
3. Go back do project page and go to Recordings page.
4. Create a new recording pressing the red button at the bottom. Or import an already recorded video using the button at the top. If present, the video or audio base will start playing when you tap record in the camera. Use ear plugs to prevent the audio base to be recorded along your new video.
4. If you don’t have an audio base, you can make this recording the base. Go back to Recordings page and tap the me button on the recording and you will see the option.
5. After recording, you can check if it is synchronized. Exit the camera page and you will see the recordings list. Tap the name of the recording to see the details and then tap the Synchronization Tool button.
6. In the Synchronization page you will hear the recording and the base playing together. Use the plus and minus buttons to move the current recording forward or backward if necessary.
7. With the recordings synchronized, you can go back to Project’s page and enter the Edit Montage page. There you can drag the recordings to create the video. You can also listen to audio result or a preview of the video with the buttons at the top (don’t mind the quality here). Long press to remove a recording. Be creative!
8. After editing the montage, go back to Project’s page and go to Video Montages page. There you just tap the green button at the bottom to create the montage.

There are some app settings and project setting you would want to change.

If your recordings doesn’t show, try changing the default folder in the app settings.

If the montage takes too long, try decreasing the quality in the project settings. I recommend a minimum of 480p when sharing. You can also try to decrease the quality of the videos (using a third software), before importing, in order to try improving the speed of rendering (maybe I will add this functionality in the app in the future).

The app is still in beta development but it was released in order to give people in quarantine the possibility to share their art. It will be free as long as the pandemic goes on.
